The last few hours have witnessed notable statements by US President Donald Trump, as he revealed via Fox News his proximity to "handing over the Hezbollah file to Syria and empowering Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa," expressing his frustration with Israel's performance in confronting the party, according to Al Jazeera.
For his part, Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa commented on this news in an interview with Al Mashhad channel, reported by Syria Free News Network, explaining that "President Donald Trump expressed his annoyance with what is happening in Lebanon and is looking to stop the war there." Al-Sharaa stressed that the American statements were "misunderstood," denying any intention of direct Syrian military intervention, and emphasizing that Damascus's vision is based on "restoring support for the Lebanese state and strengthening official institutions" and seeking economic solutions far from traditional military options.
In the same context, Syria TV quoted the US Vice President confirming that "great progress had been made in the previous three days regarding a ceasefire in Lebanon," pointing to coordination with regional parties to end the crisis. At a time when Syrian media outlets are promoting a "different approach" to the solution, some media sources, such as Al-Youm Channel, warned of the danger of these trends, questioning whether Syria would become a "tool of war" or a diplomatic mediator in a region suffering from intertwined conflicts.
Al-Sharaa stressed, according to Aleppo Today Channel, that "Hezbollah is encroaching on the decision of the Lebanese state," confirming Syria's readiness for dialogue with everyone, including the party, with the aim of reaching stability that serves the common interests of the two countries, considering that the time has come to end conflicts and turn towards development and reconstruction.
