Large-scale night of attacks in Ukraine: 96 UAVs intercepted

During the night between June 20 and 21, 2026, the Russian military launched a combined, large-scale attack on Ukrainian territory. According to the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the attack included the launch of 105 UAVs of various types (including "Shahed", "Gerbera", "Italmas", "Banderol", and decoy drones), alongside two "Iskander-M" ballistic missiles and "Kinzhal" aero-ballistic missiles.

According to Air Force data, air defense forces managed to intercept or neutralize 96 of the 105 launched UAVs. However, security sources reported impacts on the ground: the Operations Center noted that impacts from ballistic missiles and six UAVs were recorded at six different locations, while falling interceptor debris caused damage in five additional locations. The exact status of the two "Kinzhal" missiles is still under investigation.

The monitor channel, which tracks the combat situation, clarified that the attack was accompanied by early warnings as of June 21, with an assessment that Russia's goal in using decoy drones is "to exhaust the air defense forces." Similar reports also appeared on Channel 24, which emphasized the intensity of the attack and the continued activity of hostile aircraft in the airspace even after the night hours.

Official bodies, including the official channel of the Armed Forces, continue to monitor developments. The attack was defined by local media outlets as part of Russia's ongoing attempt to damage Ukrainian infrastructure using a wide variety of guided munitions, with the operational emphasis remaining on the success of interception systems against the mass of launched vehicles.
