Extensive Drone Attack on Crimea: Damage to Oil Infrastructure and Fuel Supply Disruptions
On the night between June 20 and 21, 2026, Crimea experienced a massive drone attack, which received extensive coverage in Ukrainian media. According to Times of Ukraine, the port of Kerch was attacked, where a fire broke out at a terminal for storing oil products. STERNENKO reported additional fires at the port of Kavkaz in the Kerch Strait and at a local military base, noting that Russian air defense systems failed to protect the area.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that targets on both sides of the Kerch Bridge were attacked, including maritime logistics for oil transport, fuel depots, as well as four S-400 radar stations and two Pantsir systems, as reported by 24 Канал. The SBU (Security Service of Ukraine) and other military officials took part in the operation, which they termed "Isolation of Crimea."
Following the attack, СУСПІЛЬНЕ НОВИНИ reported that Russian authorities announced a complete halt to fuel sales at gas stations on the peninsula, except for state services, due to the resulting shortage. At the same time, power outages and disruptions in water supply were reported in large parts of Crimea.
The attack caused panic among residents, with Times of Ukraine and Новини.LIVE reporting a queue of about 650 to 700 vehicles seeking to leave the island via the Kerch Bridge immediately after the attack. Local authorities, according to ЦАПЛІЄНКО_UKRAINE FIGHTS, announced a suspension of ferry traffic in the strait, which intensifies the logistical isolation of the region.
