During the night between June 20 and 21, 2026, a significant air strike was reported, involving the launch of a 'Kinzhal' hypersonic missile toward the depths of Ukraine. According to reports from various Ukrainian Telegram channels, the missile penetrated the airspace of the Kyiv region and then continued moving rapidly westward.
The channel Реальна Війна | Україנה | Новини, which is identified with a firm pro-Ukrainian stance, updated that the missile passed over Kyiv on its way to the west of the country, with the target disappearing from radar within the borders of the Zhytomyr region at 01:20 AM. Earlier, the channel ОПЕРАТИВНИЙ ІНФОРМ noted that the missile was moving along the Ivankiv vector and subsequently passed in the direction of Radomyshl-Zhytomyr.
Additional reports from Лачен пише (which takes a distinctly pro-Ukrainian stance) confirmed the trajectory and noted that it was a launch of a single missile with extremely high speed. Other news channels, including Україна Online and Труха⚡️Київ, confirmed that the missile continued on its way toward Zhytomyr and the strategic target of Starokostiantyniv.
As of the morning hours, there were no reports of significant damage or casualties following the aerial penetration, and the authorities in Ukraine announced the end of the air emergency in the relevant areas after the target was lost from radar.
