Drone attacks in the Moscow region

On June 18, 2026, unusual events were reported in the Moscow region and its surroundings, as Ukrainian sources reported strikes on oil facilities. The reporting sources cynically describe these events as "oil rain."

The channel Exilenova+, known for its distinctly pro-Ukrainian line, reported on explosions and unusual occurrences in the Russian capital, using the phrase "oil rain over the Kremlin" (source). A similar description appeared on STERNENKO, a channel identified with a firm Ukrainian position, which noted that "it is already night in Moscow, expecting oil rain" (source).

At the same time, Телебачення Торонто, which maintains a critical line toward Russia and Putin, confirmed that "in the suburbs of Moscow, it began to rain oil" (source). The channel Український Наступ, which holds distinct anti-Russian positions, joined the reports and called the event "oil rain in Moscow" (source).

Another source identified as Порядок на Чистому Ескалаторі noted that "oil rains have begun in the Moscow region" (source). A user identified as @captain_parker responded to the reports by claiming that these were "drones with an oil drop effect and smoke bombs," a claim intended to explain the visual appearance of the attacks. As of now, there is no official verification from the authorities in Moscow regarding the exact extent of the damage.
