Security authorities in Ukraine reported today, June 18, 2026, on a series of successes in the fight against espionage and subversion networks. According to the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), the body responsible for protecting the state, a woman was captured in Dnipro who acted as a Russian agent and coordinated missile and drone attacks on strategic infrastructure in the city.
According to reports from Дніпро Оперативний 🇺🇦| Війна, the suspect drew the attention of Russian intelligence services after posting "pro-Russian comments in Telegram chats." After being recruited, she located defense industry facilities and documented the results of the strikes for her handlers. She is currently detained without the possibility of bail and faces a life sentence for treason against the motherland.
In a separate case that ended in a conviction, the National Guard of Ukraine (NGU) reported that the court sentenced an agent of the Russian military intelligence (GRU) to 7.5 years in prison. The agent attempted to assassinate a National Guard soldier in Kyiv using a booby trap: he planted an explosive device in a scooter and lured the victim to the scene under the guise of a "date with a girl" from the internet. The National Guard soldier survived after identifying that it was a trap.
Security officials note that the handling of terrorists and agents is being carried out under an accelerated procedure due to the state of war.
