A significant development in air defense: Ukraine announces a new interceptor missile
The Ukrainian defense company Fire Point announced today the completion of the development of a new ballistic interceptor missile, known as the FP-7.X. According to Denys Shtilerman, the head of the company, as reported on STERNENKO (a channel identified with a distinct pro-Ukrainian stance), the missile is ready for use, although further stages of operational testing and full integration into existing defense systems are required.
The system, known as "Freya," has received extensive coverage on Ukrainian channels, including Харьков life and Батальйон «Монако». According to reports on Новини.LIVE, the missile has already undergone an initial series of tests that demonstrated maneuverability and the ability to receive commands remotely.
Technically and economically, Shtilerman revealed that the production cost of the interceptor (excluding the homing head) is estimated at less than $500,000, with the homing head adding an additional cost of about $200,000 to $250,000. To upgrade the system's performance, it was reported that the company has reached agreements with the German radar manufacturer Hensoldt to integrate radar technology into the Freya array.
Despite the enthusiasm in Ukrainian news channels, such as Реальний Київ, which highlight the strategic advantage of domestic production of anti-ballistic missiles, experts and media reports point out that this is a gradual process that has not yet reached full maturity on the battlefield.
