[82942] Russian attack on Kyiv: 140,000 consumers disconnected from power, fire at Lavra Cathedral
Extensive Russian attack on Kyiv: damage to electrical infrastructure and supply disruptions
During the night of June 14 and 15, 2026, the Ukrainian capital experienced a massive air attack that caused heavy damage to energy infrastructure. According to reports from Mayor Vitali Klitschko, approximately 140,000 consumers in the northern part of Kyiv were disconnected from the power supply following damage to transmission lines.
Reports from authorities and local media
The reports on the extent of the damage were confirmed by several official and media entities, including the Kyiv City State Administration (KMDA) and Suspilne Novyny, which are identified with a pro-Ukrainian editorial line and report continuously on war damages. Suspilne noted that besides the damage to the power grid, a fire was also reported to have broken out on the roof of the Assumption Cathedral (Uspensky Cathedral) in the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra complex.
Situation assessments and supplementary reports
In addition to the official reports, other Telegram channels such as Real Kyiv and Truha Kyiv published status photos of damage to power lines, with some reports noting that attacks may have also been carried out against water infrastructure in the capital, based on early warnings from bodies such as YeRadar.
While some channels, such as UA Stream, point out that this was a "drone attack" that caused fires in residential buildings, the city leadership continues to concentrate efforts on repairing the damaged lines. As of this hour, no accurate time estimates have been reported for the full restoration of electricity flow to all affected areas.
