Russian wave of attacks against railway infrastructure in Ukraine

Over the past 24 hours, targeted Russian attacks against Ukrainian railway infrastructure were reported in two key locations. According to a report by ЦАПЛІЄНКО_UKRAINE FIGHTS, the railway station in the city of Shostka, Sumy Oblast, was completely destroyed as a result of an attack by dozens of "Shahed"-type UAVs. Ukraine's Deputy Prime Minister, Oleksiy Kuleba, was quoted in СУСПІЛЬНЕ НОВИНИ as confirming that the structure was razed and heavy damage was caused to the railway infrastructure in the area, although it was noted that there were no casualties in this incident.

At the same time, another scene of attacks took place in Zaporizhzhia. According to cumulative reports from Новинач, ҐРУНТ, and Телебачення Торонто, Russian forces attacked railway infrastructure and rolling stock in the city. As a result of the strike, a locomotive driver was killed and two other employees were injured. The company "Ukrzaliznytsia" confirmed the details and stated its intention to provide assistance to the family of the deceased and to the injured.

24 Канал | Новини України added that the attack on Zaporizhzhia also did not spare industrial hubs in the city, which sustained damage that caused fires and additional casualties. UA Stream emphasized that this was a combined attack that caused significant disruptions to public rail traffic.

All sources reviewed, mostly identified with a pro-Ukrainian stance supporting the repulsion of Russian aggression, described the events as part of a systematic effort to damage civilian equipment and infrastructure in order to disrupt daily life and transport in Ukraine.
