[71998] The Ukrainian army uses GTA V for training against "Shahed" UAVs
Use of virtual simulators for air defense
Ukraine's security forces have begun using the video game Grand Theft Auto V (GTA V) as an auxiliary tool for training soldiers in dealing with aerial threats. According to the Telegram channel Всевидящее ОКО: Україна, which is identified with clear pro-Ukrainian positions, a special mod that simulates "hunting enemy drones" has been developed at the "WeTrueGun" training center.
Reports indicate that the technology allows soldiers to realistically practice actions of "searching for targets in the air, pursuing, and intercepting unmanned aerial vehicles." The channel Батальйон «Монако» emphasized that this is a training solution designed for combat against "Shahed"-type UAVs.
The report was also confirmed by the channel ЗСУ ДВІЖ △💪🇺🇦, which is identified with declared support for the Ukrainian army and Zelensky. According to the channel, the use of the GTA V mod allows trainees to "polish skills of identifying aerial targets, tracking them, and successful destruction."
This is an unusual use of civilian gaming technology for security purposes, highlighting the Ukrainian effort to use available and innovative tools to deal with waves of Iranian drone attacks operated by Russia.
