Forecasted systems of heavy rain, hail and strong winds are expected to hit most parts of Ukraine, alongside high summer temperatures.
Weather forecast: Ukraine faces fickle meteorological conditions
During Friday, May 22, 2026, Ukraine experienced a variety of dangerous weather phenomena. According to Новини.LIVE, the country experienced a combination of high temperatures, reaching up to 30 degrees Celsius, alongside thunderstorms, heavy rains, and strong gusts of wind. In some places, especially in the southern, central, and Kharkiv regions, there were also reports of concern regarding hail and winds reaching speeds of up to 20 m/s.
In Ukraine's capital, Kyiv, the forecast indicated a mostly sunny day with a possibility of precipitation in the evening hours, with temperatures expected to range between 21 and 28 degrees. However, UA Stream issued an urgent warning to the residents of the capital and the region regarding a "sharp deterioration in weather conditions" throughout the day.
Experts from Укргідрометцентр noted that this is an unstable atmospheric system, but emphasized that from May 23, a stabilization in the weather is expected due to the entry of a high atmospheric pressure field. Simultaneously, Суспільне Дніпро reported strong north-easterly winds in the Dnipro region, with gusts reaching 20 m/s during the thunderstorms.
Alongside the meteorological reports, UA Stream also addressed the issue of solar activity, noting that despite the storm in the atmosphere, solar wind speed has decreased and no significant disruptions due to magnetic storms are expected during the weekend.
