The Ukrainian Air Force reports a large-scale, combined drone attack that penetrated several regions of the country, including Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, and Chernihiv.
Massive wave of drone attacks across Ukraine
Throughout May 21, 2026, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported an extensive and complex wave of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) that penetrated Ukrainian airspace. According to reports, the vehicles moved along multiple paths and in various formations toward diverse targets, including major cities such as Dnipro, Kryvyi Rih, Nikopol, Kharkiv, and Mykolaiv.
Reports from the field, particularly from the 🔊⚠️єРадар | Повітряна тривога | Ракетна небезпека channel, described the movement of dozens of drones, including "jet"-type vehicles ("Banderol"), which performed aerial maneuvers and frequently changed paths to evade air defenses. The НУ І ДНІПРО! 🇺🇦 channel, which focuses on local reports in the Dnipro region, provided real-time updates on drone movement over residential neighborhoods and infrastructure facilities, while warning local residents of immediate dangers.
The Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed simultaneously that in addition to the drones, guided aerial bombs (KAAB) were launched toward the Dnipropetrovsk region, indicating an escalation in attack methods. Official sources and additional alert groups, such as Реальный Днепр ⚡️Кривой Рог, reported interceptions and attempts by the drones to fly at low altitudes between various settlements, which led to the activation of prolonged alerts in all attacked regions.
The attack was characterized by the use of deception tactics and multiple targets, as reflected in local channel reports of drones performing "loops" over populated areas and using complex flight paths. So far, reports are focusing on documenting the movement of the vehicles and flight paths, with authorities calling on citizens to remain in protected spaces in light of the ongoing threat.
