Commemorating the legacy of Symon Petliura in Ukraine
The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has announced the issuance of a new commemorative coin with a face value of 2 hryvnias, dedicated to the "100-річчя дня пам'яті Симона Петлюри" (100th anniversary of the day of remembrance for Symon Petliura), as reported by several Ukrainian Telegram channels.
According to the Труха⚡️Україна channel, known for its distinctly nationalistic and pro-Ukrainian stance, the coin was issued in a limited mintage of up to 50,000 units. Reports in Новинач and UA Stream confirmed the technical details of the coin, which commemorates the figure of Petliura, one of the leaders of the Ukrainian national liberation movement in the early 20th century.
In addition to the coin issuance, UA Stream noted that the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory (UINP) has inaugurated a special exhibition on Khreshchatyk Street in Kyiv, dedicated to Petliura's work as a statesman and a prominent military and political figure in Ukrainian history. The coincidence of the coin launch with the exhibition highlights institutional efforts in Ukraine to emphasize the national historical narrative during the current period.
