Ukraine has been dealing with an exceptionally stormy weather system in recent days, characterized by heavy rains, hail, and strong winds. According to reports from the Ukrainian Meteorological Center, atmospheric instability is expected to continue throughout the weekend, with a yellow risk level declared for most regions.

The capital, Kyiv, is the main center of the storm's activity, described as a "weather armageddon" by the Реальна Війна channel. Many residents documented lightning striking high-rise buildings directly, and in at least one case in the Kyiv suburbs, a lightning strike on a house caused the structure to catch fire. City authorities, via the official Kyiv channel (KMDA), warned residents to avoid staying near tall trees, billboards, and high-voltage power lines.

Damage in the capital includes flooding on traffic arteries, fallen trees, and disruptions to public transportation. The ТСН.ua channel emphasized that the storm is exceptionally intense and accompanied by constant lightning, recommending that drivers do not park under trees. Simultaneously, similar conditions have been reported in other parts of the country such as Lviv, Dnipro, and Odesa, including wind gusts of 15-20 m/s.

Meteorological forecasts for May 21, the day of "Vyshyvanka" (the traditional Ukrainian shirt day), indicate continued rain and storms, with temperatures expected to range between 21 and 29 degrees Celsius depending on the region. The UA Stream channel notes that these are "synoptic fluctuations" affecting most parts of the country, except for northeastern Ukraine, which is expected to remain relatively dry.
