On Wednesday, May 20, 2026, media outlets in Ukraine reported another wave of price increases at gas stations across the country. According to the Лачен пише channel (which takes a pro-Ukrainian line and reports on domestic issues), major retail operators raised the price of gasoline by a range of 0.5 to 1 Hryvnia per liter. While diesel and gas prices remained relatively stable, gasoline prices continue an upward trend.
The UA Stream channel expanded on the data and notes that leading fuel chains such as Socar, OKKO, and UPG increased gasoline prices by 1 Hryvnia per liter. The channel's reports stated that "the most expensive gasoline has already approached 90 Hryvnia per liter."
The phenomenon attracts special attention in light of the fact that the local price increase is occurring simultaneously with a decline in the global energy market. According to UA Stream, "oil became cheaper by over 1%," which highlights the gap between global market trends and what is happening inside Ukraine. Analysts cited in the channel estimate that this is a continuing trend and that further price increases for this type of fuel are expected in the near future.
