On May 17, 2026, the city of Kryvyi Rih experienced a security incident following the detection of drones (unmanned aerial vehicles) in its airspace. The Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed that hostile aircraft were spotted over the city, leading to an immediate directive for residents in the Bazhanova area to take cover, as reported on the єРадар channel.
Reports began when the Realnyi Dnepr channel updated on drone movement near the Shyroke area toward Kryvyi Rih. Consequently, red alert sirens were activated in the area, with the channel emphasizing in a special message the need to enter protected spaces in Myrhorod and Bazhanova as well.
After a period of tension, the Realnyi Dnepr channel published a reassuring update, according to which the airspace over the city was declared free of immediate threats. Subsequently, it was noted that the identified aircraft left the city limits toward the west and passed over the Lozuvatka area.
