The Ukrainian government has announced that effective today, the electronic taxpayer card in the 'Diia' app has full legal validity, eliminating the need for physical paper documents.
Digital Revolution: The End of the Paper Era in Ukraine
The Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine announced today that as of May 14, 2026, the electronic taxpayer card (RNOKPP) in the "Diia" app receives full legal validity, identical to that of the printed document. This means that citizens are no longer required to carry a physical paper document of their tax identification number.
The report was confirmed by a series of local news channels, including Труха⚡️Україна, who noted that the ministry informed them of the move exclusively. As stated in the report by Труха, the Ministry of Digital Transformation and the State Tax Service emphasize that this is another leap forward in the country's digitization process.
The update was widely circulated in the Ukrainian media, with channels such as Times of Ukraine, Лачен пише, and Реальна Війна noting that this is an official government decision. Deputy Minister Valeriia Ionan (Koval) confirmed the full legal validity of the new digital documentation, as published in the Реальна Війна channel.
Alongside this move, it was reported that the Ministry of Digital Transformation is expected to launch additional services within the app, including the option to undergo divorce proceedings online, a process expected to be available to citizens starting in mid-summer. All surveyed sources, including Інформаційний фронт and Безпечний Район, agree that the step reflects the ongoing government effort to transition all bureaucratic services to accessible digital platforms.
