During the early morning hours of May 14, 2026, the capital of Ukraine, Kyiv, experienced a massive air attack. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko announced via the KMDA channel that explosions were heard throughout the city and called on residents to remain in shelters.
According to updated data from the authorities, nine people were evacuated to hospitals as a result of the strikes, while two additional citizens received outpatient medical treatment. Other local news channels, including Київ Головне and Київ | Times, reported a smaller number of casualties in the earlier stages, but updated their reports as a more comprehensive picture of the situation on the ground was received.
Emergency and medical teams are operating at the various impact sites. While Ukrainian media outlets such as Суспільне Новини and hromadske define the event as a "Russian attack" on the city, the emphasis in the reports remains on civil defense and assistance to the victims. As of now, rescue teams continue to be operationally deployed at the locations hit in the attack.
