Growing Tension: Russian attacks against American businesses in Ukraine

According to reports published on the Telegram channels Ukraine NOW and ZN.UA, Russia is conducting a campaign of targeted attacks against the assets of American companies operating in Ukrainian territory. According to the New York Times investigation, since last summer, facilities of giant companies have been attacked, including Coca-Cola, Cargill, Boeing, Mondelez, and Philip Morris.

ZN.UA, known for its critical stance toward Russia and the current US administration, notes that one of the significant attacks involved the use of seven Russian UAVs against a grain terminal belonging to the company 'Cargill' in southern Ukraine in mid-April. According to ZN.UA, information about many of the attacks was kept secret by the companies themselves for fear of the impact on investors and insurance.

Both sources, Ukraine NOW and ZN.UA, emphasize that the Donald Trump administration has refrained from a decisive response or official condemnation of the events. Despite appeals from American diplomats in Kyiv and local business people, the White House has sufficed only with "acknowledging the existence of concern."

Andy Hunder, head of the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine, was quoted in ZN.UA as saying that the Russians are launching missiles and UAVs "in the hope that this will stop American business from coming to Ukraine." The conduct of the US administration stands in contrast to its public declarations about protecting US commercial interests overseas.
