In the night between May 11 and 12, 2026, immediately after the end of the ceasefire, Russia launched a massive aerial attack that included, according to hromadske, the launch of over 200 drones of various types. Air defense forces managed to intercept 192 of the 216 identified vehicles. The attack focused on both civilian and military infrastructure, using artillery and aerial bombs in addition to drones.
In the Dnipropetrovsk region, the heaviest damages were recorded. According to data from the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration (OVA), five districts were attacked, with reports indicating one death and four wounded. In addition, the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development confirmed that railway infrastructure was damaged, including locomotives and rolling stock, and that a train driver was wounded by shrapnel while trying to reach a shelter.
In Kyiv and the Kyiv region, damage was reported to residential buildings and educational institutions. The Kyiv Regional Military Administration (KOVA) noted that a fire broke out at a kindergarten in the Fastiv district as a result of a drone strike, and windows were shattered in a nearby residential building. At the same time, in the capital Kyiv, drone debris hit the roof of a 16-story building in the Obolon area, which caused a fire reported by Mayor Vitali Klitschko, as published in Оперативний ЗСУ.
In the Kharkiv region, Суспільне Харків reported that a factory in the village of Velykyi Burluk was attacked, where a bus and a truck caught fire. Also, in Kherson, according to STERNENKO, a 68-year-old woman was wounded as a result of night artillery shelling. All reporting sources express a firm stance against Russian aggression and emphasize the deliberate, in their view, targeting of civilian infrastructure and the Ukrainian transport system.
