Reports on the presence of migrants from India throughout Ukraine
Over the past 24 hours, several Ukrainian Telegram channels have reported a noticeable increase in the presence of groups of migrants from India in major cities in the country. According to reports, the migrants were identified in the capital Kyiv, as well as in the cities of Lviv and Poltava.
The channel Україна Online: Новини | Політика reported that groups of migrants equipped with suitcases and personal gear were observed in Kyiv, with some even documented wearing "military clothing" according to this report. This channel, known for a nationalist and conservative line, further claimed that some of the migrants are filming content for the TikTok network, while others are "harassing local women" according to this source.
Similar reports were circulated on other channels:
- The channel Ху Київ + | Україна, characterized by a distinct pro-Ukrainian stance, noted that the migrants are "very active in Lviv and Poltava" and that they are "making contact with local women" according to the publication.
- The channels 🇺🇦УКРАЇНА⚡️Новини ⚡️Політика and Інформаційний фронт | Новини | Політика repeated the same narratives, using similar claims regarding TikTok and interactions with local women.
In addition to the social claims, the Україна Online channel published photos which it claims show migrants washing their clothes in rivers, using images from India as a comparison to the alleged situation, which points to an attempt to highlight concerns regarding hygiene and environmental damage in Ukrainian cities.
