In the last day, a massive wave of calls for fundraising for units fighting at the front has flooded Ukrainian Telegram channels. According to reports from channels such as Оперативний ЗСУ and Левый Берег Киев, the need for technical equipment and transport vehicles has become critical. Левый Берег Киев described the situation as "simply trash" (треш), emphasizing that without off-road vehicles, TDF units have no way to evacuate the wounded or transport ammunition.
The shortage of equipment is felt in all sectors. The channel Київський купол | Графіки notes that the 4th Brigade's evacuation vehicles are out of order due to malfunctions, which increases the danger to the soldiers' lives. At the same time, the 24 Канал channel reports on joining forces with the 66th Brigade to raise 500,000 hryvnia for a "drone hunt" aimed at clearing the skies over the Lyman sector.
To encourage donations, many units and organizations are incorporating elements of raffles and prizes. The Оперативний ЗСУ channel offers donors a chance to win an AR-15 rifle, while Брутальний Футбол ⚽️ and Жабич мовить 🇺🇦 offer a variety of prizes, ranging from 'Shakhtar' football club jerseys to collectible scale models, in exchange for donations over a certain amount.
The reports highlight the burden on the civilian sector to fund military needs. The War Zone ✙ ➔ △ channel notes that "80 percent of supplies come through volunteers," and emphasizes the acute shortage of medical equipment and EcoFlow charging stations, without which the units' communication lines do not function.
The reporting channels, all identified with staunch support for the Ukrainian war effort and President Zelensky, emphasize that every contribution, even the smallest, is "part of a common defense." Despite the high intensity of the fundraising, it appears that the units are forced to rely almost entirely on civilian initiatives to continue their operational functioning.
