[53482] Civilian Safety Warning: Danger of Exposure to UAV Remains and Military Equipment in the Field
Ukrainian security authorities have issued a severe warning to the public against touching remnants of aircraft and military equipment left in combat zones due to the risk of unexploded ordnance.
Security Warning: Explosion Hazard from Military Equipment Remains
In the shadow of ongoing fighting, Ukrainian security officials have issued an urgent warning to civilians against approaching the remains of unmanned aerial vehicles or any other military equipment scattered in the field. According to a report by the military reporting channel monitor, known for its continuous coverage of the front lines from a Ukrainian perspective, there is a real danger from these items even after combat operations have concluded.
In monitor, it was emphasized that "you should not approach, and certainly not touch, any wreckage found on the ground after combat activity." The report clarifies that even seemingly innocent parts of a UAV may carry explosive components that did not detonate during the attack, which poses an immediate life-threatening risk to anyone who comes into contact with them.
The official directive issued calls on citizens to exercise extreme caution: "Call the State Emergency Service (DSNS) – stay safe." The instruction was also circulated on other networks, including the channel ЗСУ ДВІЖ △💪🇺🇦, which is identified with supporting the Armed Forces of Ukraine, with the goal of reducing the number of casualties from unexploded ordnance in areas where fighting has taken place.
