Israel in memory: Ukraine marks a national minute of silence
This morning, May 7, 2026, at exactly 09:00, all of Ukraine stopped for a joint memorial ceremony. Media outlets and official Telegram channels, including ТСН новини and Оперативний ЗСУ, reported that the country observes a minute of silence every morning in memory of those who "gave their lives for Ukraine."
As part of the initiative, which received widespread resonance on social media, the Новини.LIVE channel documented the main streets in Kyiv, including Khreshchatyk Avenue, filling up with people who paused their daily routine to honor the fallen. The Kyiv Regional Administration defined the event as a "daily ritual of gratitude, respect, and remembrance" that unites soldiers and civilians alike.
Simultaneously, Maksym Kozytskyy, Head of the Lviv Regional Military Administration, published an emotional message detailing the names of three additional fallen heroes from the region whose families are saying goodbye to them today: Andriy Zanko, who fell in battle in the Kursk region; Orest Blyzniak, who served in the Ukrainian Armed Forces; and Bohdan Patryk, a Lieutenant Colonel in the National Guard, who passed away on May 4.
Sources identified with the security and government establishment, including ЦСП «ОМЕГА» and Victory Drones, emphasized that the minute of silence serves as a symbol of national resilience: "A minute of respect for the luminous memory, courage, and determination of the fighters who fell while carrying out missions to defend the sovereignty of Ukraine."
