Several Ukrainian Telegram channels report that on May 5, Russia lost a multi-role Mi-8 helicopter. According to the report by Мілітарний, which identifies with distinct pro-Ukrainian positions, this is a significant loss of a Russian aircraft in the ongoing war.
The information was verified by Russian sources close to the Air Force. As noted on the КЛОЧОК channel, Russian military blogger Ilya Tumanov, known by the nickname "Fighterbomber," confirmed the incident and wrote on his account: "Земלה небом, воїни!" (Sky and earth, warriors!).
Additional channels joined the reports on the incident: the Україна переможе! 🇺🇦❤️ channel claimed that the helicopter was destroyed along with its crew, a figure also repeated in an update from the ЗСУ ДВІЖ △💪🇺🇦 channel, which states that "Зафіксовано знищення російського вертольота Мі-8 разом із екіпажем" (destruction of a Russian Mi-8 helicopter along with the crew was recorded).
