[51405] Expectation of fuel price increases in Ukraine: a hike of up to 5 Hryvnia per liter
Forecast for fuel price hikes
Drivers in Ukraine are expected to face a rise in fuel prices soon, as according to market expert estimates, prices are expected to rise by 3 to 5 Hryvnia per liter. Sergey Kuyun, director of the A-95 consulting group, emphasizes that this is an inevitable step in light of the rise in oil and fuel prices in global markets.
Analysis of the market situation
According to reports in channels such as Ху Київ + and Юрист пише…, fuel chains in Ukraine were forced to absorb high purchase costs during the month of April without fully passing them on to the consumer. Data indicates that the cost of gasoline rose by about 137 dollars per ton, while the retail profit (margin) of gas stations plummeted from about 9 Hryvnia per liter to a level of only 2 Hryvnia, which is defined as non-profitable activity.
Is a shortage expected?
Despite concerns about price hikes, market factors reassure that no fuel shortage is expected. In reports by UA Stream, it was noted that despite a point-in-time price increase already recorded in some chains, the country holds sufficient resources to ensure continued regular supply.
Summary of the situation
While most fuel chains are currently maintaining price stability, experts such as Kuyun clarify that the current operating model is not sustainable. In Новини.LIVE, it was added that the wholesale price of gasoline is approaching 70 Hryvnia per liter, while the average retail price stands at about 72 Hryvnia, a gap that does not allow for covering proper operating costs without an upward adjustment.
