Extensive drone attack on the Odessa region
During May 5, 2026, the city of Odessa and its surrounding areas experienced an intense wave of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) attacks. According to the Новости Одесса | Одеса channel, five UAVs were identified infiltrating toward the city of Chornomorsk from the Black Sea.
Subsequently, further waves of attacks were reported. The Telegram channel Труха⚡️Одесса | Одеса | Новини, known for its immediate and sometimes dramatic field reporting, communicated about two additional UAVs in the Zatoka area and aerial activity over the "Shkolny" area. Reports included severe warnings to residents in the port and city center areas: "Port/Center, hide!".
The peak of the events was recorded with loud explosions heard in the area, as reported by Труха⚡️Одесса. The channel Новости Одесса | Одеса highlighted that two additional UAVs were making their way from the sea toward Chornomorsk and Sanzheyka, while calling on the public to follow real-time alerts via dedicated links.
The security situation in the area remains tense, with reports indicating that some of the vehicles returned to the sea after completing their flight path. Ukrainian authorities have yet to issue an official summary of damage or interception results as of the time of reporting.
