[49745] Widespread wave of Russian drone attacks across Ukraine on May 4
The Ukrainian Air Force reports a wide wave of attack drones that crossed the country's borders and struck targets in several central regions.
Wide-scale drone attack on various hubs in Ukraine
Today, May 4, 2026, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported a widespread wave of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs/drones) that penetrated the country's airspace. The attacks focused on the Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, Sumy, Chernihiv, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia regions, activating air defense systems in many areas.
According to continuous updates from the Ukrainian Air Force, the attacking groups moved along several routes simultaneously. In the Dnipropetrovsk region, drones were reported moving towards Nikopol, Kamianske, and Dnipro. At the same time, the єРадар | Повітряна тривога channel reported intense activity in the north of the country, where drones were spotted on their way to Horodnia, Ripky, and Chernihiv.
In the Kharkiv region, defense forces reported drones moving towards Kharkiv and Bohodukhiv, while additional sources such as monitor pointed to heavy activity in the area north of the city of Chernihiv as well. The reporting sources, which are identified with a clear pro-Ukrainian stance, emphasize that all the identified vehicles were en route to civilian and military targets with the aim of sowing destruction and panic.
The attacks did not spare areas in the south and east either, as a hostile drone was spotted moving towards the city in Zaporizhzhia, and in the Kherson region, drones were documented crossing the border towards the north and Mykolaiv. Sources such as ЗСУ ДВІЖ additionally reported detecting vehicles in the Odesa region, which indicates an especially wide geographical scope of the current attack.
