Opportunity for collectors: rare Ukrainian coins are sold for tens of thousands of hryvnia
According to reports from several Ukrainian media outlets, citizens may possess coins of exceptionally high monetary value. The focus of interest is a one-hryvnia coin from 1992, which, according to publications by Times of Ukraine and Україна Online, may be worth 37,000 to 40,000 hryvnia.
The unique feature that makes the coin rare is the "гладке ребро без напису" (smooth edge without inscription), a phenomenon caused by the lack of appropriate tools for stamping inscriptions during the initial production stages. These details were also confirmed by the news channels Всевидящее ОКО, Батальйон «Монако», Україна⚡️Новини⚡️Війна, and Україна UA.
In addition, the UA Stream channel notes that Ukrainians can earn even more significant sums, which may exceed 300,000 hryvnia, from the sale of commemorative coins issued by the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU), especially those made of precious metals.
The reports emphasize that the high value stems from demand among private collectors and numismatic experts who are willing to pay a "кругленьку суму" (a pretty penny) for these rare and unique items. The various channels provide basic information on how to identify and distinguish between a regular coin and a valuable collectible item.
