Extensive Wave of Russian Drone Attacks in the Sumy Region and Northern Ukraine
Over the past 24 hours, intensive activity of attack drones, identified as "Shaheds," has been reported in the Sumy Oblast and adjacent areas in northern Ukraine. According to reports on the Київ Головне channel, at least 30 hostile aircraft were identified in the Sumy region, moving toward deep-seated targets. At the same time, the Київське небо 🌌 channel reported about 15 drones identified in the Chernihiv and Sumy regions, where air defense systems were operating against them.
The local channel Женьок Вещає… provided regular updates throughout the event, declaring "increased danger" for the residents of Sumy city. According to the channel, the attacks were directed at strategic areas, including facilities near Sumy University and the "Sumykhimprom" area. The channel documented drone flight paths over points such as Tokari, Pushkarivka, and Pishchane.
Operational reports from Женьок Вещає… noted that drones were launched from the direction of Krasnopillia, with some continuing toward Boromlia and Sumy, while additional aircraft were documented on their way to the Shteepivka area. The tense security situation in the region was also confirmed by 24 Канал | Новини України, which reported explosions heard in Sumy city and warned of similar threats to the Kharkiv region as well.
As of the latest updates, the state of alert in the Sumy region led to a large number of targeted alerts within a short time, indicating a multi-focal attack. Ukrainian authorities have yet to release a full summary of the damage, but reports from the field point to a particularly tense night for local residents.
