[47428] Wave of drone attacks in the Odessa and Chornomorsk region: reports from the field
Drone attack on the Odessa region
During May 2, 2026, a series of attempted aerial attacks using drones launched from the Black Sea and the Kherson region towards southern Ukraine were reported. According to reports from the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, waves of drones were identified making their way towards Chornomorsk and Ovidiopol.
The monitoring channel monitor – known as a detailed military tracking channel identified with real-time alert monitoring – reported throughout the day on several successive waves. At the peak of the event, it was reported that there were "10 drones in the direction of Chornomorsk" in the message linked here. On the other hand, the channel eRadar, which focuses on real-time alerts, noted that "5 groups of drones hovered over the waters of the Black Sea" in maneuvers apparently designed to confuse air defense systems.
Truexa Odessa, a local channel reporting on events within the city, confirmed that these were Iranian-made vessels. As of the evening of May 2, the threat in these areas was declared over. The reports were based on cooperation between official military monitoring networks and local reports, highlighting the high vigilance of air defense systems in the Odessa region.
