Extensive wave of drone attacks in the Kharkiv and Dnipro regions

During the night of May 2, 2026, Ukraine experienced an extensive wave of attacks using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) directed at the Kharkiv and Dnipro regions. According to monitor, a channel that tracks military movements, about 12 UAVs were identified penetrating the airspace of Kharkiv and its surroundings, with similar reports also verified by the Ukrainian Air Force Command.

Official reports from Channel 24, which is identified with a pro-Ukrainian stance and views Russia as an aggressor, indicate a drone strike in the Shevchenkivskyi district of Kharkiv, an incident in which at least one injury was recorded. At the same time, air defense forces reported the movement of drones toward southern and central areas, including Pavlohrad, Synelnykove, and Dnipro itself, where residents of the Samarskyi district were called to enter shelters, as reported by the Реальный Днепр channel.

The attack centers were spread across a wide geographic area. According to monitor, penetrations were identified in the area of Tsyrkuny, Nova Vodolaha, Hrakove, and Balakliya, while additional groups of drones moved toward Izyum. The єРадар channel, which specializes in air alerts, noted that two additional groups were identified on their way from the south along the border between the Dnipro and Mykolaiv regions.

The reports reflect a focused Russian effort to deepen attacks deep into Ukrainian territory. Pro-Ukrainian sources such as ЗСУ ДВІЖ confirmed the deployment of forces in the Balakliya area and the surroundings of Kharkiv. As of now, air defense activity continues in the attacked areas, under constant concern of further escalation in attacks during the night.
