Authorities in Kyiv arrested a 36-year-old man on suspicion of carrying out large-scale fraud against a People's Artist of Ukraine. According to reports by Реальний Київ, the suspect impersonated an employee of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and contacted the victim with false claims of treason, using a fictitious summons to increase psychological pressure.

The con artist convinced the artist that she needed to perform a "source of funds check" due to suspicions of ties to Russia, and thus managed to extract a massive sum of about $128,000 in cash and another 400,000 hryvnias that were transferred to various accounts. According to the report by ТСН новини (which takes a critical line toward Ukrainian security and government officials), the suspect used currency exchange services to transfer the funds to digital wallets and took a commission of only $900 for himself.
