The Lviv City Council has approved the renaming of part of Vynnychenko Street to Hero Andriy Parubiy Square, following his assassination last year.

Lviv City Council approved today, April 30, 2026, the renaming of part of Vynnychenko Street to "Hero Andriy Parubiy Square." The decision follows the call of the regional head, Maksym Kozytskyy, and received the full support of Mayor Andriy Sadovyy.
According to a report by the channel Львівич | Новини, the new area named after the former parliamentary speaker includes the site where the statue of Vyacheslav Chornovil stands, as well as the regional administration and regional council buildings, places where Parubiy served as a council member for many years.
As noted in a report by UA.NEWS, the decision is part of a broader move to commemorate Parubiy, who was assassinated under tragic circumstances on August 30, 2025, in the center of Lviv. In addition to the square in Lviv, plans are underway to name a passage in the capital, Kyiv, after him.
Various reports from local news channels, including Труха⚡️Львів, 24 Канал, and Суспільне Львів, highlighted the symbolism of the new square's location, which now serves as an official memorial site for one of the most significant political figures in Ukraine of the last decade.
