Disruptions in Vodafone communication services following a Russian attack

Following a widespread night-time Russian attack on Ukraine on July 2, 2026, officials at the telecommunications company Vodafone reported potential disruptions to their services. According to numerous announcements from the company, the damage to public infrastructure led to difficulties in accessing home internet, problems with making payments (recharging accounts), and disruptions at the telephone service center.

Many Ukrainian media channels covered the event, including Times of Ukraine, which noted that these are the "consequences of a night-time Russian attack," and Оперативний ЗСУ, which reported that engineering teams are working to repair the damage. Channels with a clearly pro-Ukrainian line such as Реальна Війна and Труха⚡️Київ emphasized that this is another attack on civilian infrastructure by Russia.

In some reports, such as that of Кореспондент Одеси, the term "cyberattack" was used, although most reports focused on physical damage to infrastructure. The channel UA Stream noted in detail that "civilian infrastructure objects suffered damage" as a result of shelling in the capital, Kyiv.

As of now, the operator continues its efforts to restore the network. According to Суспільне Новини, experts and engineers on behalf of the company are on the ground working to restore regular services to all subscribers.
