[78486] Heavy traffic congestion in Istanbul after Eid al-Adha; unusual natural phenomena in Kastamonu
The end of the holiday in Turkey: Massive traffic jams in Istanbul and weather changes
With the conclusion of the nine-day Eid al-Adha holiday, media outlets in Turkey reported heavy traffic congestion at the entrances to Istanbul. According to Haber Gündem, the traffic volume this morning reached 68%, with drivers experiencing significant difficulties, especially on the Anatolian side of the city.
TGRT HABER, associated with general current affairs coverage, described the situation as "paralyzed traffic" with "kilometers of long lines of vehicles." İHA News Agency noted that the congestion was felt as early as the early morning hours, while Sansürsüz Medya +18 added that the traffic remained "influential and burdensome" on the daily routine of residents.
Sputnik Türkiye, a source identified with an international perspective, reported that traffic congestion began as early as late at night on the TEM highway and in areas such as Pendik and Sancaktepe, due to the return of vacationers from tourist centers throughout Anatolia.
Parallel to the traffic reports, Sputnik Türkiye presented a contrasting picture of the weather in Turkey: while vacationers in the Evrenseki district enjoyed the sea and summer weather, in the high areas of Mount Yarlıgöz, which rises to a height of 2,000 meters, heavy snow fell, which is defined by them as "one side summer and one side winter."
