[76531] Political storm in the Republican People's Party (CHP) against the backdrop of the struggle between Kılıçdaroğlu and Özel
Peak tension in the CHP: The internal struggle intensifies
The political system in Turkey is in turmoil on this current day of reflection, as the Republican People's Party (CHP) presents a tangible split between the leadership of Özgür Özel and supporters of the previous leader, Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu. While Özel marched toward Anıtkabir (Atatürk's mausoleum) accompanied by his supporters, media outlets identified with certain anti-establishment elements harshly criticized the move as a "cheap exploitation of the Kemalist legacy" for internal political purposes.
Exchanges of accusations and mutual attacks
The central conflict is evident in the harsh exchange of words. Özgür Özel stated that the struggle is not personal but against President Erdoğan, yet simultaneously complained that Kılıçdaroğlu refuses to cooperate in legal proceedings and party conventions, claiming that Kılıçdaroğlu answers every proposal with "I do not know." On the other hand, elements within the party identified with Kılıçdaroğlu continued to hold separate events, where figures such as actress Şebnem Sönmez publicly called out to the former leader: "I want a country clean of you."
Accompanying social protests
Alongside the political drama, other public events were recorded in Turkey. According to reports by solcugazeteX, actor Ozan Güven was removed from a cafe in Kadıköy by the crowd in the place who chanted "the guilty are out," an event that highlights the public tension in Turkey beyond party circles. Simultaneously, former CHP senior official Gürsel Tekin caused another stir when he called for purging the party of those who label Kılıçdaroğlu a "traitor," thereby deepening the internal rift that was manifested in the holding of two separate holiday ceremonies at the party headquarters.
