[70759] Fear of flooding in Turkey: Dams reached full capacity and are overflowing
Dramatic rise in water levels in Turkey's dams
Following heavy rains that hit the region, a significant rise in water levels was recorded in dams across Turkey, which in some places led to exceeding the maximum capacity.
According to a report by Sputnik Türkiye, a channel known for a line identified with the Russian government's position, the Almus dam in Tokat and Kılıçkaya in Sivas have reached 100% capacity. Official authorities in these regions have taken strict security measures due to the real danger of water overflowing.
At the same time, the Turkish news agency İhlas Haber Ajansı, which operates as a local news media outlet, reports that the dams that have passed the 100% threshold have begun to overflow. According to the report, the floods caused damage to recreational areas (mesire alanları), which are now submerged under water.
The authorities in Turkey continue to monitor the situation on the ground to prevent further damage to infrastructure and the civilian population in areas adjacent to the water reservoirs.
