Exposure of luxury assets and corruption allegations in Tepebaşı Municipality
A wave of reports that surfaced on social media on May 15, 2026, reveals serious suspicions of corruption in Tepebaşı Municipality, centered on senior municipal officials. According to cmhr, who tracks issues of proper governance and corruption suspicions, the affair revolves around the unexplained enrichment of officials and the use of organizational mechanisms for personal interests.
Involvement of the Deputy Mayor
According to a report by cmhr, it was found that the Deputy Mayor, identified by the initials S.Y., owns a luxury villa. The report claims that suspicion arose that the official established a company in his son's name, and through it, issued invoices to the municipality. According to the claims, the villa in question was put up for sale about three months ago for a sum of approximately 16 million Turkish liras.
Claims of improper norms
In addition to exposing the assets, cmhr compares the system created in the municipality to mechanisms attributed to key international figures, and claims that this is an entrenched modus operandi. The reports, which gained a cumulative exposure of over 52,000 views in combination with supplementary reports by sidratta, highlight the question regarding the source of funding for the "villa of the cronies" and the nature of the business ties between the Mayor's office and the mentioned villas in the residential area of the officials.
As of now, these are allegations based on an investigation on social media, with no official response from the Tepebaşı Municipality.
