Turkish Health Minister: No risk of Hantavirus outbreak

Turkish Health Minister, Kemal Memişoğlu, addressed the public's concerns regarding the Hantavirus today (May 15, 2026) and sought to calm the atmosphere. According to him, as of now, there is no scientific indication suggesting an increased risk or fear of a widespread outbreak in the country.

In a report by the channel Sondakika Haber Gündem, the Minister was quoted as saying: "The public can be calm, there is currently no risk of an epidemic of this type, and there is no report or recommendation from the scientific world indicating an increase in risks."

Simultaneously, the channel Haber X reported on the Minister's words and noted that authorities continue to monitor the situation closely. Minister Memişoğlu emphasized that all citizens currently under medical quarantine are being monitored daily and that "the tests of our citizens in quarantine are negative."

Both news channels reporting do not present a critical stance toward the administration and focus on conveying an official message of reassurance from the Ministry of Health to the public.
