Wave of enforcement against violent crime in Turkey

As part of a widespread police operation, security forces in Turkey reported today, May 6, 2026, on a series of arrests and thwarting of criminal activity in various districts across the country.

Discovery of arms caches in Konya

According to a report by the channel Sansürsüz Medya +18, known for its publications on criminal and law enforcement issues, a coordinated operation was conducted at 16 different addresses and 18 vehicles in the city of Konya. During the raid, significant quantities of weapons were confiscated, including "51 AK-47 rifles, 34 pistols, and one Uzi rifle." As a result of the activity, 11 suspects were arrested.

Arrests in Kocaeli and an unusual incident in Bursa

Simultaneously, Haber Gündem, a channel that reports on general current affairs, updated that 6 suspects were arrested in the city of Kocaeli for involvement in a drive-by shooting at a business. According to Haber Gündem, beyond weapons and ammunition, drugs and counterfeit money were also seized in this operation.

The same channel also reported on an unusual incident in the Inegöl district of Bursa, where a cyclist was injured in a traffic accident involving a motorcycle. The authorities determined that the cyclist was driving under the influence of alcohol and, consequently, "heavy fines were imposed on him".
