[45767] Review of Advertising and Digital Marketing on Turkish Telegram Channels: Financial Opportunities and Sponsorships
Concentration of Marketing Activity and Promotions on the Turkish Telegram Network
During the past day, Telegram networks in Turkey – ranging from sports channels like GALATASARAY BAŞAKŞEHİR CANLI and BEŞİKTAŞ SEVDALILARI to current affairs channels like Sansürsüz Gündem – flooded users with a variety of aggressive marketing offers. The central content identified includes massive advertising for gambling and betting platforms, as well as financial products and investment services.
Financial and Investment Offers
Entities in the channels Borsa Hisse Haber and Borsa Haber 🔔 published a call directed at "investors who lost money in the stock market," with promises of high returns of up to 5x in May. The advertisement claims that "100,000 TL turned into 300,000 TL" in past performance, using marketing strategies aimed at people looking to improve their financial situation (according to Borsa Hisse Haber). At the same time, the channel fenerbahceruhu1907 promoted the crypto platform Stablex, linked to Akbank, with an offer of a bonus of up to 5,000 TL.
Banking Services and Content Monetization
In the more traditional banking sector, various channels such as GALATASARAY BAŞAKŞEHİR CANLI distributed a promotion from Yapı Kredi Bank, offering bonuses to retired employees who transfer their account to the bank, up to an amount of 30,000 TL (according to the channel announcement). Concurrently, there is a trend of content monetization: Sansürsüz Gündem and Son Dakika Haberler Gündem encouraged channel owners in Turkey to use Yandex Ads to generate passive income from content published on their channels.
Nature of Sources and Their Bias
Most of the observed sources function as bulletin boards for sponsored content (Advertorials). Sports channels serve as broad distribution platforms for Bilyoner, a gambling platform, which raises questions regarding the reliability and integrity of the information disseminated to young audiences. The use of marketing language promising quick and easy stock market profits by financial channels indicates a high risk level for investors, without detailed disclosure of the risks involved.
