[45213] New collaboration in Turkey: Police officers will undergo comprehensive training in the martial art of Judo
Police training in Turkey: Judo as a central tool for enforcement
As part of a new move to empower the capabilities of the Turkish police, a cooperation agreement has been signed between the Police Academy and the Turkish Judo Federation. According to reports in Sondakika Haber Gündem, the goal of the initiative is to provide police officers with "proper intervention techniques" while performing their duties.
Chairman of the Turkish Judo Federation, Sezer Huysuz, emphasized that the training will allow security personnel to deal with field incidents in a more professional and controlled manner. The report by TGRT HABER noted that this is a "new era" at the academy, with the aspiration being that graduates of the courses will begin their operational service while holding a "black belt" level.
The reports from the three involved channels – Sondakika Haber Gündem, Haber Gündem and TGRT HABER – are consistent and present the initiative as a professional move to improve the physical capabilities of the local police. The channels, which are generally associated with general news reporting in Turkey, highlight the official signing as a turning point in the standard of police training.
