Shake-up in Turkey's Administrative Ranks: Extensive Round of Appointments in Police and Provinces
Following decisions published in the "Resmi Gazete" (Official Gazette), Turkey is witnessing far-reaching changes in the security and public administration system. According to a report by Sputnik Türkiye, the incumbent Police Chief Mahmut Demirtaş has been replaced and transferred to a position in the Ministry of Interior, and in his place, the Governor of Nevşehir, Ali Fidan, has been appointed as the new Police Chief.
Significant changes were also recorded at the gubernatorial level. TRT Haber reports that the Governor of Ankara, Vasip Şahin, has concluded his tenure and was appointed as the head of the Human Rights and Equality Institution of Türkiye (TİHEK). In his place, Yakup Canbolat was appointed as the Governor of the capital, Ankara, as part of a round that also included the provinces of Aydın, Adıyaman, and Nevşehir.
Son Dakika Haberler Türkiye and TGRT HABER emphasized that this is a "bureaucracy with a critical change," where alongside the appointments at the gubernatorial level, new police chiefs were appointed to seven different provinces, including Konya, Mersin, and Manisa.
In parallel with the appointments in the security system, Haber Gündem reports on an additional decision by the Council of Judges and Prosecutors (HSK), under which 34 judges and prosecutors were transferred from their positions in various judicial instances. The sources, which include state media and major news agencies, present the moves as part of a reorganization of the government apparatus.
