An unprecedented wave of Ukrainian UAV attacks is reported in Russia, with hits on energy facilities in Rostov and flight disruptions in Moscow and other major cities.
A large-scale wave of attacks in Russia
During June 18, 2026, a combined and large-scale UAV attack was reported within Russian territory. According to ZN.UA, a channel associated with pro-Ukrainian positions, about 300 attack UAVs are currently operating in the skies over Russia. As a result, a "carpet" (air closure) status was declared at major airports in Moscow – Vnukovo, Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo, and Zhukovsky – as well as in the cities of Kaluga, Penza, Saratov, Nizhny Novgorod, and Nizhnekamsk.
A central focus of the attack was the "Gukovo" oil refinery in the Rostov region. ZN.UA reports that this is a strategic facility for fuel production and presents documentation of a "beautiful fire" at the site. The Supernova+ channel also confirmed the hit on the refinery, calling it simply "the unloading of the refinery."
At the same time, the Анатолий Шарий channel, which takes a critical line toward the Ukrainian government and the West, reported explosions and drone activity in the Ryazan region and the Moscow region. Meanwhile, the Telegram channel Киевский Движ noted that five UAVs were detected over the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv.
In another sector, the Telegram channel Zone AP published footage of an attack on a truck in Belgorod, while expressing harsh criticism of the Russian government and anticipating further escalation in Ukrainian weapons production. Conversely, the Душная община channel, which expresses support for Putin and Russia, responded to the reports in Moscow by attempting to reassure the public regarding the effectiveness of the "Pantsir" air defense systems stationed around the capital.
