New legislative initiatives in Russia: fighting feminism and monitoring sex offenders

On June 15, 2026, several controversial initiatives aimed at changing social order and enforcement in the country made headlines in Russia. Baza reported that following an investigation into a network of sex offenders, State Duma member Anastasia Udaltsova demanded the creation of a national pedophile registry and closer cooperation between the police and educational institutions, with the aim of improving the protection of minors.

At the same time, several channels, including КБ and SOTA, reported on an initiative attributed to the organization "Fathers Beside Us" (Отцы рядом) and its chairman Ivan Kurbakov, to establish special police units to combat "radical feminist aggression" online. According to the reports, the goal is to protect men from what was defined as "humiliation and depression." The opposition channel SOTA noted that Kurbakov had previously worked to declare feminism an extremist ideology, arguing that it threatens traditional family values.

The proposals also include the introduction of "gender equality" content in schools, but not as it is known in the West, rather as a tool to prevent the spread of feminist ideas among girls. Conversely, sources identified with more conservative views presented this as a necessary step to correct a "crying inequality" in society.

On the legal-economic level, channels such as Коммерсантъ and Время госзакупок reported on amendments promoted by the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS). The amendments are intended to prevent a "resetting" of statutes of limitations in antitrust offenses, following the Constitutional Court's decision of April 29, 2026—a move intended to increase legal certainty for businesses.
