The US State Department approved on May 22, 2026, a potential deal for the sale of equipment and maintenance services for HAWK-type air defense systems to Ukraine. According to reports by РИА Новости and the ТАСС agency, the value of the deal is estimated at approximately $108.1 million. The prime contractor that will lead the project is Sierra Nevada Corporation, as noted in Настоящее Время and Московский Комсомолец.

In an official statement by the State Department, as cited by BBC News | Русская служба, it was clarified that "the deal will contribute to achieving the foreign policy and national security objectives of the United States."
