Russia's massive drone attack wave: Alerts in the Kyiv and Odesa regions
During the night between May 19 and 20, 2026, Ukraine experienced a widespread air attack using suicide drones. The Ukrainian channel Николаевский Ванёк, known for constant and detailed updates on military events from a Ukrainian perspective, reported a single drone making its way toward the Kyiv region, and the settlements of Vyshhorod and Brovary in particular (according to the channel's post).
At the same time, a much more significant wave of unmanned aerial vehicles was directed toward the south of the country. According to reports from Николаевский Ванёк, about 15 UAVs were initially identified arriving from the sea toward Odesa and Chornomorsk (according to the channel's post), with the number quickly climbing to 25 aircraft (according to the channel's post).
The local Telegram channel XYDESSA LIVE also confirmed that about 10 UAVs were identified in the skies over the city of Odesa. The channel provides on-the-ground reports and focuses on real-time information for residents of the area. In summing up the events, Николаевский Ванёк stated that the Ukrainian air defense forces managed to achieve a "minus" (interception) for all the UAVs that were launched from the sea toward the Odesa region.
