According to widespread reports in the Russian media, Olga Vasilyeva, the wife of the actor and former star of the series "Kitchen" Dmitry Nazarov, sent a letter to the State Duma of Russia requesting to "forgive" their family and allow them to return to their homeland. According to Mash, Vasilyeva claims that the couple are "patriots of their country" who were unfairly classified as oppositionists, and denies any support for the Ukrainian army or anti-Russian statements.

In the letter, cited by many channels such as The Newsach/Dvach and Прямой Эфир, Vasilyeva details her husband's artistic achievements and complains about his health condition. She claims that the medicine in France, where the couple emigrated, is "unprofessional" compared to Russia, and that Nazarov suffers from "intense longing" for the Russian stage.

Sources identified with a pro-government line, including Tsargrad and Absatz, attribute the move to the couple's economic collapse. According to reports, the two were forced to sell a 60-square-meter apartment in Cannes for 495,000 euros, as their performances in Europe are failing to fill halls. The Nemalahov channel highlighted that the letter includes a request for protection from "legal and reputational pressure" within Russia.

Responses in the Russian media are mixed, with skepticism expressed regarding the sincerity of the repentance on one hand, and mentions that the actor has not been officially declared a "foreign agent" on the other. Moscow 24 recalled that Nazarov and his wife were fired from the Moscow Art Theatre (MXT) in January 2023 after he sharply criticized the special military operation, which raises questions about their acceptance back into the Russian establishment.
