Overnight (May 14, 2026), Ukraine, and particularly its capital Kyiv, was under a combined, large-scale air attack of missiles and UAVs. Николаевский Ванёк, a channel monitoring air movements, reported that dozens of unmanned aerial vehicles and cruise missiles were launched from several directions, with the channel emphasizing that "the nightly attack was aimed primarily at the Kyiv region and the capital itself".

According to reports from УНИАН, a Ukrainian media outlet presenting a position supporting Zelensky and the war effort, hits were identified in several locations in the capital. In the Dniprovskyi district, the roof of a residential building was hit by a UAV, and in the Holosiivskyi district, interception debris fell onto the road. City authorities also reported damage to a non-residential building in the Obolon district and a car fire in a parking lot in the Solomianskyi district.

Conversely, channels identified with Russian positions, such as Украина.ру, reported "powerful hits" and claimed that the target was energy infrastructure, such as the CHP-5 power plant. The Воевода Вещает channel, which is close to the Russian defense establishment, boasted that this was "one of the most massive air-UAV attacks since the beginning of the war", and claimed that Ukrainian defense systems were overloaded.

Real-time reports from monitor and local Telegram networks described a sequence of threats, including launches of ballistic missiles, X-101 cruise missiles, and the deployment of strategic bombers. The monitoring systems noted that some of the missiles flew over Chernihiv, Poltava, and Cherkasy on their way to Kyiv, with residents of the capital instructed to remain in shelters due to prolonged bombardment from several directions simultaneously.
